About
Rabbi Emily Segal (she, her) is the rabbi of the Aspen Jewish Congregation, serving the Roaring Fork Valley in western Colorado.
Teaching
One of the true joys of Rabbi Segal’s rabbinate is to learn with individuals of all ages, life stages, and backgrounds.
Innovation
We engage differently with Judaism than our parents and grandparents did. Therefore today’s synagogue is not - and cannot be - the synagogue of ages past. Rabbi Segal believes in the sanctity of our precious traditions and values as well as the joy of creating new meaning, together.
Justice
Rabbi Segal believes that to be Jewish and to be a leader means to create healing and wholeness in our broken world. Over the years she has spoken out and advocated regarding immigration, homelessness, reproductive justice, LGBTQIA+ equality, and environmental justice.
National Leadership
Rabbi Segal is Co-President of the Women’s Rabbinic Network, the national organization of Reform women rabbis which represents 840+ women, nonbinary, & genderqueer rabbis. Rabbi Segal also has served in committees and task forces of the Central Conference of American Rabbis.
My Journey
My Jewish journey began in a small, tight-knit community in Virginia as I witnessed my father convert to Judaism. The power of personal relationship and interwoven intellectual and spiritual engagement in Judaism has moved me since my youth.
